The ‘Love Your Job’ Awards ceremony was a lovely event, filled with positivity and news of great achievements.
I was honoured to be asked to give the National Careers Service Award for Innovation and Improvement
The Palace Hotel provided a beautiful setting, resplendent with flickering candelabras.
Dr Peter Hawkins, Director of Windmills and author of seven books delivered a very enthusiastic after dinner talk.
With great flair, he reminded us of the qualities we need to help others – and to fill our time wisely before it’s too late!
Careers Guidance
Careers is a topic that remains close to my heart as I was an Adult Adviser for many years, which led me to write ‘The One to One Toolkit: Tips and Strategies for Advisers, Coaches and Mentors’ with Ann Reynolds.
Ann and I wanted an easy reading introduction to theory for our own students, it is still widely used by Advisers and training providers.
I was delighted to hear about the projects The One to One Toolkit is supporting in the north of England – I also discovered from Siobhan Neary from The International Centre for Guidance Studies that she has taken The One to one Toolkit to China and Malaysia! I intend to find out more….
The Innovation and improvement Award went to Ceri Wood from Rochdale Council. Well done Ceri!
Special thanks also to Su Matthews,Training & Communications Manager for the National Careers Service at Economic Solutions) for organising the event.
